DVSS Safety Rules and Requirements
While the rules that follow are intended to direct DVSS members and guests in the safe conduct of our activities, good judgment and common sense must always be used to ensure the safety of our members, and people in the area and for the property around us.
1. Members and visitors who are flying with us must be AMA members and have their membership card with them to prove their membership.
2. Do not turn on your transmitter unless you have cleared with all fliers present that your frequency is not being used.
3. In case of loss of control, Yell Out!!
4. Must accomplish and announce a “control wiggle check” just prior to the launch and verify control movement direction.
5. Launch and land in the designated areas. Prior to all flying sessions the Safety Officer or another club officer will conduct a brief pilots meeting which will include a description of both areas and any other field conditions including "no fly" zones.
6. An experienced DVSS member must assure that any visiting flyer is an AMA member and has sufficient experience to fly safely and they are familiar with our safety rules before allowing the visitor to fly.
7. Announce, loudly, all winch launches and landings to assure those in the area are aware and can take appropriate action.
8. After landing, clear the area promptly to assure safe landing area for those in flight.
9. Only "pure" sailplanes, Limited-Motor Run sailplanes or Altitude-Limited Electric sailplanes will be flown at the DVSS site. No self powered (electric, gas, or rocket) aircraft, "drones," or multi-rotors are allowed.
10. All members are responsible to enforce the rules (Don’t take it personally when someone calls to your attention a safety violation or concern).
